Goalie Coach

Ziga's hockey journey unfolds as a remarkable international goalie. Growing up in Slovenia, Europe, he achieved significant milestones, winning national championships at various levels and representing his nation in the European championship as part of the national team.

At just 16, Ziga ventured into professional hockey in Europe before making a bold move to Vancouver, Canada, to join the Canadian Junior A Hockey League. Over four impactful years in Canada, his skills earned him a scholarship to play US College Division 3 hockey at Norwich University in Vermont.

Ziga's time at Norwich University was illustrious, culminating in a national championship win in 2000, with notable placements in 1999 and 2002. Graduating as the valedictorian of his class, Ziga holds a degree in mechanical engineering. During his academic journey, he contributed as a goalie coach for MIT while pursuing graduate studies.

Currently residing in San Diego for the past 5 years, Ziga works as a professional engineer, focusing on transportation electrification. Beyond his professional endeavors, he remains closely connected to the world of hockey, as his 10-year-old son Luka embraces both goalie and player roles, while his 7-year-old daughter Nina excels in figure skating at SDIA.
