Where can I find more information on Skating lessons?If you're looking for information about skating lessons at San Diego Ice Arena, you can find all the details you need on our website. Simply navigate to the "Skating Lessons" tab on the homepage, and you'll be able to browse all of our available programs, including group lessons, private lessons, and figure skating programs. You can also find information about our experienced coaching team, schedules, and pricing. What is included in a Skating School package?Choose from four different days of the week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. Enjoy a weekly 30-minute class, complimentary skate rental, and unlimited access to public sessions for practice.

What happens if I'm not able to sign up at the beginning of a session?No worries at all. The price will be adjusted based on the number of weeks remaining at the time of your sign-up. We welcome new skaters every week, and our beginner classes are equipped with extra coaches to ensure personalized attention and support.

What happens if I have to miss some classes?You can make up missed classes on any of the other available days within the current semester.

Do you offer helmets for protection?Certainly! Helmets are available for any skater who wishes to use one during classes. Additionally, our fully equipped Sport Shop has all the attire you may need, including gloves, tights, leggings, lightweight jackets, skates, and accessories.

What clothes should I wear during class?For your comfort, it's recommended to wear a lightweight jacket, flexible slacks that allow for bending, and gloves for your hands. Given the cool temperature in the rink, staying warm is essential.

Can I skate with my child during class?While not during classes, you have the option to pay for admission and skate alongside your child during one of our free public sessions.

I'm an adult, is it too late for me to learn to skate?Absolutely not! You can start at any age. We offer beginner classes designed for all age groups. Additionally, we provide various levels for adults, ensuring they can continue to learn and enjoy skating for years to come.

How advanced does SDIA's figure classes get?We provide classes ranging from beginner to advanced levels, offering a variety of specialty classes such as stroking, dance, jumps, harness, spins, and synchronized skating, among others.

How do I schedule a one-on-one private lesson.Our staff of highly credentialed instructors is ready to fulfill all your skating needs. Private lessons are scheduled directly through the coach, as they manage their own calendars. For assistance in this regard, feel free to contact our Skating Director, Wendy Smith, at wendy@sdice.com. Private lesson rates typically range from $30.00 to $40.00 per 30 minutes.

Do I have to pay for rink admission on top of the private lesson fee?If you are enrolled in the skating school program, there is typically no additional fee. Skaters often choose to schedule a private lesson during one of their free practice sessions per week.

How do I enter figure skating competitions?Your private instructor can guide you every step of the way! They will help you prepare for testing, exhibitions, and even participating in local competitions each year.
